Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence refers to the process of preparing a system-generated chatbot, robot or other product to think like humans. Also called “Machine Intelligence”, it describes how machines mimic human minds, such as learning from experience and problem-solving. John McCarthy, a pioneer in AI, first introduced the term to distinguish it form cybernetics in 1956. The founders of AI were four leaders in AI. By 1959, computers could perform better than humans at checking for errors. Artificial Intelligence can be used in many areas, including Cybersecurity, Military, Government agencies, Advertisement Automations, and other fields.
What is AI?
AI was first coined in 1956. It enjoyed a string of successes by 1960. The Department of Defense in the US heavily supported AI research. AI pioneers were optimistic that machines would be as capable of thinking and performing as humans in the future. AI Fund was shut down in 1974. Progress was slow and was known as “AI Winter”.
Expert Systems, a type of AI program that simulates the intelligence and analytical skills of human brains, was established in the 1980s. AI was again used in logistics, data mining, diagnosis, and other areas in the 1990s.
This has increased the popularity of AI because it is more powerful and can solve problems faster. It also interacts with other fields like Statistics, Mathematics, and economics. Deep Blue, a chess-playing computer, defeated Garry Kasparov, the world champion. Watson, an IBM question answering machine, defeated the two most renowned Jeopardy players in a Quiz Exhibition match in 2011.
Artificial Intelligence’s Goals are Perception, Reasoning, Learning. Simple algorithms are used in simple frame applications. Stronger algorithms enable strong artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence can be divided into two categories:
- Weak artificial intelligence: Weak artificial Intelligence is a system that’s designed to do a specific job. Weak Artificial system includes Amazon Alexa, Siri.
- Strong Artificial Intelligence : Strong Artificial Systems is a system that can perform complex tasks, just like humans without human intervention. These systems can be used for self-driving cars and other applications like navigation, hospitality, and so on.
- Human intelligence is not characterized by one trait.it is a mix of many abilities. American companies held 2/3rds of all total investments in 2016. The simplest method of learning artificial intelligence is trial and error. Artificial intelligence uses problem solving to achieve its desired goal.
There are two types of problem-solving approaches: general purpose and specific purpose. A special purpose approach can be used to solve a specific problem. However, general purpose can be used to tackle a variety of problems. AI is an interdisciplinarity science that assists in the creation of smart machines that can perform tasks that require human intelligence. It is possible to see a shift in all sectors with the advancements in Machine Learning and Deep learning concepts.
Artificial Intelligence: Uses
Artificial intelligence has been used in many fields, including marketing, banking, finance and healthcare.
AI has contributed to a deeper interest in marketing. We used to choose an online store when we wanted to purchase a product. However, sometimes it was difficult to find the right one. Now we can search for the exact product with its related products. A search engine reads our minds and returns the best result. Netflix is an example. It allows us to search for the exact movie names and its related movies by searching comedy-thriller, suspense, or suspense. It is advancing and becoming more efficient, so there will be more real-time marketing applications.
Artificial Intelligence has been applied to banking sectors. It has provided customer support via conversational Chatbot apps that provide the best solutions for its customers. Artificial Intelligence in banking helps us avoid online and credit card frauds. India’s most trusted bank HDFC has its Chatbot AI-Based Chatbot EVA. There has also been the IRCTC AI-Based App “Ask Disha”.
AI can be used in finance to forecast or predict the future trends by using past data and information. This is an example of AI being used to predict the stock market and increase profit margin.
AI has made a significant impact on the world of health care. An organization created a clinical support system to prevent heart attacks. These AI have been used in Radiology Imaging, Disease Diagnosis and Radiology.
Artificial intelligence technology allows virtual assistants to solve most problems. AI is the basis of most home appliances. Turn fans on to allow AI technology to be used. Amazon Echo is a common virtual assistant that is used to translate human language. Google Duplex makes it possible to book, manage a calendar, make a reservation and many other tasks using machine learning and NLP (Natural Language Processing).
